Mackenzie Sanders (Macca) – Proprietor
Macca competed to advanced level British Eventing, including international events in England and abroad. She has qualified several horses for Horse of the Year Show.
Macca started her career working for Austin O’Connor, an Olympic event rider. She cut her teeth in his yard and then went to work as head girl for Neil Fox in Cheshire, where she ran a large yard housing young horses through to experienced advance level event horses, including stallions. As part of her role she groomed for Neil at events such as Badminton three day event and other similar events abroad.
Since 2010 she has run Filo Horses and built a reputation for high welfare and performance standards. She continues to compete in showing and show jumping classes around the country. She particularly enjoys developing talent in young horses.
Lucy – Head Girl
Lucy grew up with ponies and horses, with a riding school in the family. She has worked professionally with horses since she was 19 years old.
After several years working for a private family yard, Lucy spent 3 years working as Head Girl for event rider Nick Campbell in Dorset. More recently she worked as Second Head Lass and Travelling Head Lass for Jamie Snowdon, initially in Dorset and then in Lambourn. She joined Filo Horses as Head Girl 3 ½ years ago.
Lucy has a natural affinity with young horses and particularly enjoys starting their ridden education, using her sympathetic riding ability in the early stages of backing and breaking.
Lucy currently competes young horses in showjumping, dressage and eventing. She is resident at the Filo yard.
Roger – Groundwork Expert
Roger has spent a lifetime working with horses, mainly thoroughbreds. He was a medium goal polo player and show jumper as a young man. His main career has been with the breeding and breaking of Thoroughbred horses. He now works with top class show and dressage producers and riders and confines his work to training and advising from the ground.
Roger has vast experience in all aspects of horse management and behaviour and specialises in long reining. Roger has 60 years of experience and skill in solving small and large equine problems which he enjoys putting at the disposal of owners and their horses to develop their partnership.
He is the “go to” person for behaviour issues such as loading, napping, resistance, anxiety.
Ella and Vicky – Grooms
Ella studied at Lackham College and completed her apprenticeship at Filo Horses. She is a keen rider, progressing in showjumping and learning to long rein as a complementary skill.
Vicky has been with Filo Horses for a year and recently completed her NVQ apprenticeship here. She has a farming background.
Regular visiting, fully qualified and experienced equine physiotherapist: assessments and remedial or maintenance treatments for horses of all ages and levels of activity.

Main farrier used by the yard; he routinely visits weekly. Other farriers visit regularly for their particular clients.
